The short version

CT's biggest city has room sizes for every show. The Total Mortgage Arena (about 10,000) hosts big tours. The harbor-side Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater (about 5,700) hosts summer shows. The Art Deco Klein Memorial (about 1,400) hosts symphony and seated concerts. The Bijou Theatre seats 200. It's one of the oldest theaters still open in America.

Bridgeport is CT's biggest city. It also has the widest range of concert rooms in the state. You can go from a 10,000-seat arena. Or a 200-seat room with cabaret tables. All sit near downtown, close together. Here's the full map.

Total Mortgage Arena (about 10,000)

The Total Mortgage Arena opened in 2001. It had two other names before. First the Arena at Harbor Yard. Then the Webster Bank Arena. It's the biggest indoor room in Fairfield County. It seats around 10,000 for concerts. Big tours, family shows, and sports all play here. It sits downtown. The train station and I-95 are right there.

Best for: big tours and big shows.

Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater (about 5,700)

This is one of the newest, prettiest venues in the state. The Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater sits right on the harbor. It opened in 2021, on the old Harbor Yard ballpark site. It seats about 5,700. It has a partial roof. Shows run spring through fall. The water view makes it special. It's a top spot for a summer show.

The Klein Memorial Auditorium (about 1,400)

The Klein opened in 1940. A local lawyer named Jacob Klein paid for it. It's a grand Art Deco hall at 910 Fairfield Avenue. It seats about 1,400. Leonard Bernstein and Arthur Fiedler have played here. So has Martin Luther King Jr. The Greater Bridgeport Symphony Orchestra has played here too, for more than 50 years. Today it books concerts, comedy, and community events.

Best for: symphony, comedy, and seated concerts.

The Bijou Theatre (about 200)

The Bijou Theatre is the smallest room here. It sits at 275 Fairfield Avenue. It opened in 1909. It calls itself the oldest building in America built as a movie and live-music hall. It still works as one today. It reopened in 2011 after a big fix-up. It seats about 200, in theater rows and cabaret tables. It books indie film, live music, and comedy.
